A specialized training on diversified farming was successfully held at Sitio Balatukan, Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon, bringing together 17 local farmers on August 8-9, 2024. This hands-on workshop aimed to equip farmers with the knowledge and techniques to implement diversified farming systems, helping them enhance productivity, improve income, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
The training covered key areas such as crop diversification, integrated pest management, organic farming methods, and effective resource management. Municipal agricultural technologist of the municipality led interactive sessions to demonstrate the benefits of combining multiple crops and livestock in farming systems to increase resilience against climate change and market fluctuations.
The farmers received garden tools as their starter kit and expressed their appreciation for the practical knowledge they gained, which they plan to apply in their own farms. By promoting diversified farming, this training aims to improve the livelihoods of local farmers while contributing to sustainable agricultural growth in Kitaotao, Bukidnon.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support local farmers in adopting modern, eco-friendly farming practices that ensure food security and environmental sustainability for the community.
