On October 18, 2024, a highly successful Abaca Training was held in Barangay Sagundanon, Kitaotao, Bukidnon, aimed at empowering local farmers with valuable knowledge and skills in Abaca farming. The training was organized to improve the production quality and sustainability of Abaca, a key crop in the region.
During the event, farmers were educated on modern and sustainable Abaca farming techniques, pest and disease management, and proper harvesting methods to maximize yield. Expert trainers provided hands-on demonstrations to ensure that participants could apply their learnings directly to their farms.
A significant part of the event was the distribution of Abaca seed pieces to the trained farmers, supporting them in establishing or expanding their own Abaca plantations. Farmers of Sitio Sita, Sinuda where also given seed pieces for they were already trained in Abaca farming last April 2023.This initiative is expected to enhance local livelihoods and contribute to the growth of the Abaca industry in Bukidnon.
The Abaca training and seed pieces distribution program was well-received by the community, with numerous farmers expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to improve their knowledge and access high-quality planting materials. The event marks a step forward in empowering local farmers and boosting the agricultural economy in Barangay Sagundanon, Sitio Sita, Sinuda and the wider Kitaotao area.
